The Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (DMDII), a UI LABS collaboration, was founded in 2014 in partnership with the Department of Defense, to transform American manufacturing through the digitization of the supply chain. DMDII aims to provide U.S. factories with the tools, software, and expertise to build things more efficiently, less expensively, and more quickly. DMDII is a member of the Manufacturing USA network. With its 300+ partners--from universities, industry, startups, government, and community groups--DMDII is engaged in over 50 technical projects. The Institute is equipping workers with the skills required for tomorrow's manufacturing jobs, including through an online course series and an effort to define new manufacturing roles. DMDII is accelerating the adoption of solutions using deployment channels like the Future Factory at its Chicago HQ and the Digital Manufacturing Commons, an online open-source collaboration platform for manufacturing.
