AFLCMC ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
The Air Force Future Operating Concept (AFFOC) states, ''our purpose is to ensure the Air Force can always provide Global Vigilance--Global Reach--Global Power''. Smartly leveraging cutting edge technologies such as Additive Manufacturing (AM) will enable the Air Force mission to continue to be successful for years to come. The Air Force Additive Manufacturing Implementation Plan (AMIP) lays out a foundational, low risk approach to realize the edge this technology can provide the AF. AFLCMC/EZP has been appointed the lead for the enterprise implementation of AM across the Air Force. An Additive Manufacturing Innovation Center has been stood up at the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) in Dayton OH. Four metal AM machines are focused on material characterization, steels & reactive materials such as aluminum & titanium. AM is being implemented across the AF today, we have designed & printed tools, fixtures/jigs, prototypes, and non-critical polymer & metal components.
