"NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility, or MAF, is managed by Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), is operated by Jacobs Technology, and houses a variety of occupants from both the commercial and government sectors. These customers have access to one of the world's largest indoor manufacturing facilities and to state-of-the-art equipment such as automated machining, automated fiber placement machines, and friction stir welding. The Louisiana Center for Manufacturing Sciences (LCMS) is a consortium of industry and non-profit organizations, as well as affiliate members representing government and economic development entities, committed to improving manufacturing processes and efficiencies across the Defense industrial and technology base. LCMS is headquartered at the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans and operates under a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
